Mawlana ,

I’ve been told that the only way of my dua being accepted is for me to pray with intensity and full focus and concentration. And that 100 years ago one of the shaykhs had to amputate their leg and his students suggested the doctor to do it when he was praying as he would not realize. When the amputation was being done he did not know of it. I know it takes years to get to that point , but how do I at least be focus and not be distracted by thoughts and be able to pray with such great focus ?

Don’t worry too much. You only need to raise your hands and ask. Know what you are asking for and ignore all whispers and distractions. The best way is to face the Qibla, start your du`a with praises and glorification to Allah Almighty, followed with Salawat and Salam upon the Prophet Muhammad (s) and ask. End your du`a with Salawat upon the Prophet (s) and praising and thanking Allah the Lord of the Worlds.

Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of our Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani (may Allah grant him long life in health and happiness!) and the favours that Allah Almighty grants to the Ummah during the last days, we need not go the way to amputate our legs. Just do our dhikr and ask Madad from our Shaykh, Insha-Allah, this will be enough.
