cold sweats

Question:

I have a friend who is 65, she is Masha Allah :) for sometime now she keeps having cold sweats from head to toe.. she also feels she’s transported to places and comes back in a daze not knowing what has just happened…Are the cold sweats spiritual? and is there anything she can recite to make herself stronger to cope with what’s happening..she is a Sharifah and recites a lot, even in her sleep masha Allah :)
May Allah bless you all ..

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Sometimes that can happen bcs when a person does a lot of dhikr they lower their blood pressure and that reaction may occur. However it is important to always seek proper medical attention to rule out any physical illness.

Implications of Sultan ul Awliya scolding Bachelor Mureeds

Question:

Salam alaykum Sayyidi,

In Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s recent short Sohba (21st April 2011) He strongly stated his displeasure at unmarried male Mureeds who visit Lefke Dergah & enter his Presence.
He, Allah preserve Him, warned that if he previously advised such a mureed to get married and they failed to do so, then on their next visit he would do something spiritually so that they can NEVER, ever marry anyone. He specifically said he also had such a power.

Insh Allah Please can You elaborate more in depth on this issue eg.
Would such an individual be subsequently cursed or deprived of His Blessed bayah, or would they be left in that way to be spiritually protected, or for other wisdoms.

Please Forgive & help us Sayyidi in all which we are unable to mention from our guilt, impurities & flaws.

Salam

Answer:

wa ‘alaykum salam,

Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani has explained that Mawlana Shaykh’s cursing, in general, is not to harm someone, but to carry the expiation of the sin they are doing. Thus in this instance, insha-Allah, it doesn’t mean they will be cursed, but it means he is seeking forgiveness for them in the Presence of the Prophet (s) for them not following the order to marry:

وَأَنكِحُوا الْأَيَامَى مِنكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ إِن يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاء يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

w ‘ankihoo ‘l-ayyama minkum wa ‘s-salihoon min `ibadikum wa ima’ikum. In yakoonu fuqara yughnihimullahu min fadlihi w ‘Allahu wasi`un `aleem

Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or female: if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah encompasseth all, and he knoweth all things. (Surat an-Nur, 24:32)

And mainly it is strong encouragement to marry before becoming overwhelmed by the “blind strife” that is taking this world now in which no one’s belief is safe and the best protection is in keeping that one sunnah.

And Allah knows best.

Dua Al Badri or Al badr?

Question:

Asalam alaikum…

I am new to this site, someone recommended it to me.

I have a question in regards to something, what is Dua Al Badr or Al Badri? I heard someone speak of it…they briefly mentioned that it was A dua prayed by the Sahabas (may Allah be pleased with them) during the time of battle of Badr to gain victory. But someone else told me that it is harram to pray it, as we are awakening them up from their sleep, and if prayed it causes high consequences.

Could you please explain to me what it is, and whether or not it is prohibited to pray it!

I am very confused, I do not want to take a step and Allah might not be happy with me..

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

The Du`a of Badr consists in supplicating Allah Most High by means of the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) and Companions who fought at the battle of Badr through the recitation of each and every single one of them. They numbered 314 according to Ibn Ishaq (Sira 1:317), a figure elsewhere ranging between 305 (Ibn Sa`d, Tabaqat 2:11) to 319 (Muslim, Sahih, al-Jihad wal-Siyar, al-imdad bil-mala’ika fi ghazwat Badr): over 60 Emigrants (Muhajirun) and over 240 Helpers (Ansar) (Bukhari, Sahih, Maghazi, `iddat ashab Badr) – Allah be well-pleased with them and grant them the Highest Paradise. The Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) declared them all to be dwellers of Paradise.

There are several works, both in verse and in prose, that list their names, usually in alphabetical order. Among such works:

  • Sayf al-Nasr bil-Sadat al-Kiram Ahl Badr by Sayyid Ibrahim b. Idris al-Sanusi (d. 1304/1887);
  • Jaliyat al-Akdar wal-Sayf al-Battar bil-Salat `ala al-Mukhtar by our Grandshaykh Mawlana Diya’ al-Din Khalid b. Ahmad al-Baghdadi (1190-1242/1776-1827); and
  • Asma’ Ashab Badr ridwan Allah `alayhim ajma`in by Shaykh `Abd al-Latif al-Shami, reproduced in the encyclopedia of du`as entitled al-Qulub al-Dari`a (p. 27-46, 319 names) by the great Turkish Naqshbandi Hadith scholar Shaykh Ahmad Diya’ al-Din Gumushanevi (1227-1311/1812-1894), a grandstudent of Mawlana Khalid through Shaykh Ahmad b. Sulayman al-Arwadi.

It is praiseworthy to recite such works with the intention of blessing and to supplicate Allah Most High by means of them, without any restriction whatsoever.

Blessings and peace on the Prophet, his Family, and all his Companions.

Paradise in exchange for sending salams on Rasul’Allah (saw)?

Question:

My Dear Shaykh Gibril, Assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah.
I was reading the following article:  http://www.masud.co.uk/ISLAM/misc/salawat.htm

And it mentioned this:
17 For one who sends blessings on him (may Allah bless him and give him peace) it is glad tidings in his life that he has been granted his place in Paradise as is mentioned by Al-Hafiz Abu Musa in his book on the matter, for which he brought Hadith as evidence.
I wondered if you were aware of this work and whether you – if you have time sometime – could perhaps adduce some of that hadith evidence from the book, as it is a really rather wonderful glad tiding for sinners like myself.

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

The translation should say, “for which he cites ‘a’ hadith as evidence.”

The article is translated from Abwab al-Faraj, by Shaykh Muhammad b. `Alawi al-Maliki. The latter’s list reduplicates a passage in Ibn al-Qayyim’s book Jala’ al-Afham, which also fails to mention the hadith in question. However, Imam al-Haytami does mention it in al-Durr al-Mandud fil-Salat wal-Salam `ala Sahib al-Maqam al-Mahmud, and from there its text and sourcing can be adduced thus:

Hakkama bint `Uthman b. Dinar said: my father `Uthman b. Dinar narrated to me from his brother Malik b. Dinar, from Anas b. Malik, that the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said: “O people! Truly the safest among you are on the Day of Resurrection are those who invoked blessings upon me the most in this world.”

It is narrated by:

– al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in Sharf Ashab al-Hadith (Hatiboglu ed. p. 56-57 §113  `Amr Salim ed. p. 110 §107).

– Qawwam al-Sunna al-Taymi al-Asbahani in al-Targhib wal-Tarhib (Sha`ban ed. 2:317 §1667).

– al-Daylami in al-Firdaws (`Ilmmiyya ed. 5:277 §8175), and Ibn Hajar adduced its chain in his Zahr al-Firdaws (4:275).

Hakkama was accused of forgery by al-`Uqayli in al-Du`afa’ (3:200), his encyclopedia of weak narrators; however, the truth of the hadith is confirmed by al-Tirmidhi’s hasan report: “Those who most deserve me/closest to me on the Day of Resurrection are those who invoked blessings on me the most in this world.”

Blessings and peace on the Prophet, his Family, and all his Companions.

Seeing Shaykh Nazim

Question:

Salam aleykum wrb shaykhs, may Allah reward you and keep you all, and Mawlana happy forever inshaAllah.

My question related to mawlana being in several places at different times.
I was once praying at mosque, and a man came in and he prayed next to me, he reminded me a bit like mawlana when he was younger. After the prayer he left, and i have never seen him since. Im just wondering could this actually be mawlana, because recently i acknowledged the fact he can be in several places at different times? jazak-Allah.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Yes he could have been Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani or one of his spiritual deputies.

and Allah knows best,

forgiveness in arrogance

Question:

As-Salaamu alykom wr wb Mawlana(q),

I have been bad to my parents, brothers and servants, and still am arrogant. I tried many times to repent but I can only do it in closed door to myself. I tried to change much, believe me i did, but still i end up :'( .. is there another way to repent that i wont have to go face them and apologize but Allah will forgive me?
is there a way, someday i would wake up and be a better person altogether, like someone waved a magic wand on me at night?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani makes a holy sajda every night in the Divine Presence and in the Presence of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) asking Allah to load him with the sins and burdens of every mureed and then asking Allah to dress each mureed with all the heavenly Divine Grants he has received and to raise them to whatever rank (martabah) he has reached. That is sufficient for his mureeds, so the best is for us to thank Allah 100x daily for the inexplicable grant of being Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani’s mureed and to be under his wings and protection and guidance and ask Allah swt to grant him long life to see Sayyidina al-Mahdi and Sayyidina `Isa (as) with perfect good health and ease along with his caliphs, family and companions.

Recite the du`a of the Saint of Rajab for even further support.

The Baha’i faith

Question:

I initiated as a Naqshbandi Sufi last year, then later joined with the Baha’i faith. The Baha’i faith is persecuted by Muslims in some parts of the world. Baha’is are imprisoned or killed. But it’s also a religion of honor, reverence, and glory to Allah. Baha’is prays towards peace. Why are Baha’is treated that way? What is the Baha’i way with Islam?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

It is sad to hear how Bahais are treated, and it is the responsibility of the government in each country to protect its citizens from persecution due to belief, ethnic origin, and so forth.

While the Bahai way is the way of peace according to what they teach, it is still outside of Islam as they claim that Bahaullah was a prophet after Sayyidina Muhammad (s), and this is not correct in Islamic `aqidah for Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is the Final Prophet of Allah. With all our respect to all beliefs and faiths, the Bahai way is not Islam and not part of Islam.
