Dream: Seeing Maulana Sheikh Nazim

Dream:

Dear Shaykh, Assalamu alaykum,

Since becoming a mureed of Maulana in the Summer of 2010, and that after much hesitation and reluctance, I have seen him in my dreams several times, even though I will say that I am not a very good mureed as I find it quite a challenge to do all that a good mureed should do, however, I try to do what I feel is within my abilities.

In dreams, which I have had since becoming a mureed, I have seen Maulana fighting the evil in my troublesome mother, I have seen Maulana talking to me, and I have seen him wearing green clothes and sitting down on the ground, looking away from me as I see the dream.

Please can you say what it means, generally, if we see Maulana in dreams or is this question too general? Please forgive me and ignore my enquiry if you do not like my question. May Allah bless you all. Salams again.

Interpretation:

Seeing Mawlana Shaykh is always a blessing for he, as a warith Muhammadi, a Muhammadan Inheritor of our time, also inherits from the prophetic specialty, where the Prophet (s) said, “whoever saw me in the dream saw me in reality (or will see me in the waking state).”  Thus seeing the shaykh is real, not imaginary, nor deceit. Seeing any wali is purification for the viewer, and seeing the Warith Muhammadi, one falls under what the Shaykh inherits of the Prophetic Specialty mentioned in the hadith:

“I observe the deeds (`amal) of my nation and if I find good I praise Allah and if I find other than that I seek forgiveness for them.”

From the teaching of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, falling under the observation of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim means he tallies up your good actions, and your bad actions and in Salat an-Najat, every morning before Salat al-Fajr, seeks Allah’s forgiveness for all his murids, and then on top of that, dresses them with whatever lights, blessings and bounties he is receiving. Connecting in baya` to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim you have come to a bounteous friend indeed. He gifts his murids from what Allah has granted him of levels and stations and blessings without them doing anything to deserve it and alhamdulillah for that.

Dream: Wild Cats Attacking

Dream:

Salaam o alaikum
Over the past 2/3 months I am having dreams of cats and big cats wanting to attack me feircelly. An unknown man saves me from the big cat by putting a stake in its heart. The small cats were very wild with a peice of meat in their mouth and a distant relative picks one of them and throws it and saves me. I am frightened in both these dreams. can you please interperate these for me please.

Thankyou

Interpretation:

Those wild cats are enemies trying to harm you and backbiting you, but alhamdulillah by that man you dont know killing one of them is a wali to whom you are connected, whom you may not be aware of assigned to protect  you. And the relative throwing these cats is a pious ancestor whose du`as to protect and guide you have been answered by Allah swt.

Seeing Mawlana Shaykh

Question:

Auzobillahi Minushaytaanir Rajeem ……… Bismillahir Rehmanir Raheem

Assalam o Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Ya Sayyidi, Ya Hajjah and Family,

Sayyidi, when I close my eyes to imagine Mawlana Shaykh Nazim(q), I see him with his beautiful eyes closed. Does it mean anything? or is it just a wiswas?

Answer:

wa alaykum salam,

To see the shaykh, in a dream or a vision, or in muraqabah is real, and is not from Shaytan.  Rather that is the essence of muraqabah. It is a sign you have a strong connection to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. Mawlana’s eyes closed means he is not looking at your actions but he keeps you close as his spiritual daughter. Keep up your muraqabah to maintain that connection.

Dream: Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) & Sayyidina `Ali (r)

Dream:

Assalaamu alaikum, Ya Sayyedi.
The night I came back from umrah I dreamt that I went to a great hall filled with pious men. When the crowd dispersed I sat in front in a chair and two men came and sat facing me. I became speechless when I saw them and all I could manage to say was: “Assalaamualaikum, Hazrat Abu Bakr, you have a beautiful face!” and “Assalaamu alaikum, Hazrat Ali, you too have a beautiful face!” Then Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiallahu anhu) looked at me and I felt ashamed as he was looking into my heart. He said to me: “You have a strong heart, but…” and I was sad and ashamed and I said twice:”I know”. Then they stand up and leave.

I am very troubled and shaken by this dream. Can you interpret this dream, please? JazaakAllah.

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

This is a very good dream and good tidings to you to see the two main poles of spirituality from the Companions, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) and Sayyidina Ali (r)  and for them to look at you. This is confirmation of you having a deep spiritual connection with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and the Naqshband Golden Chain which contains in the silsilah Sayyidina Ja`far as-Sadiq (r) who is called majma` al-bahrayn, “the juncture of the two seas” for he has in his lineage physical and spiritual both Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) and Sayyidina Ali (r). What Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq(r) said to you is a reality as he is a Truth-teller (siddiq).

Music

Question:

Salam alkum,

Im just confused as to whether listening to music is a sin, because some people say its haram if you do and others say its not, could you please advise if it is.

Answer:

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem, was-salaat was-salaam `ala sayyidina Muhammadin wa `ala aalihi wa saahbihi ajma`een

Here is a relatively strict interpretation of what is and is not permitted from music/sama . We will provide you other more lenient views later if you desire:

Qadi Abu Tayyib said:

To hear sama from such a woman who can be married is not lawful according to the disciples of Imam Shafi`i who said that it is makruh (disliked) to ring musical instruments by means of a stick and that it was used in order to divert the attention of the people (from remembrance of Allah). Imam Malik prohibited songs. This is in accordance with the hadith of the Prophet (saw) mentioning girls known as Qainaat who would sing among the drunkards. Imam Abu Hanifah said that sama is makruh (disliked) and to hear songs is sinful. Hazrat Sufiyan Thawri, Hammad, Ibrahim Shu`bi and other learned men of Kufa from among the Salaf (first three generations after the Prophet (s)) gave similar opinions.

Abu Talib Makki after quoting the opinion of many learned men said that sama is lawful. He said that Hazrat Abdullah Muawiyah and other Companions of the Prophet (s) used to hear sama. He said that on fixed days of blessing, the Meccans used to hear sama. The Medinites also used to hear them. Insha-Allah the following is a clarification of the use of sama .

Imam Ghazzali’s Conditions for Sama Being Commendable

We will cite five from the conditions which Imam Ghazzali cited for sama being commendable:

1. Songs of pilgrims. They roam from one country to another with songs and flutes. These songs are lawful, and they describe poetry relating to Ka`bah, the Black Stone, Zamzam and other signs of Allah. These arouse (desired) sentiments for visiting the Ka`bah and other holy places.

2. Songs of mourning. It is of two kinds, commendable and not commendable. It is not commendable to recite songs which increase sorrow for past mishaps and calamities. The Quran says: – “lest you do not grieve for what missed you,” to express sorrow for the dead falls within this class of songs, as it expresses dissatisfaction at the Order of God.

Mourning-songs are commendable when men express sorrow for past sins for this sin, Adam wept for forgiveness and Prophet David’s songs were for forgiveness. Owing to his melodious songs, many people expired. This action is praiseworthy and to give encouragement for this is also praiseworthy.

3. Songs at the time of festivals. It increases joy and happiness at the time of festivals and other days of expressing happiness, for this happens at the time of two I’ds, marriage festivals, birth ceremony when a child is born and at the time of circumcision.

4. Songs of lovers. These increase love towards God and give satisfaction and pleasure to mind. It is also lawful. If the union with a strange girl or woman is unlawful, songs for her love is also unlawful.

5. Songs on the part of one who seeks the love and pleasure of God and to meet with Him, is lawful.

sama is Unlawful in Five Cases:

1. To hear sama from a woman whose look excites sexual desire. Beardless young men may also be included in this category if sexual desire is aroused at their sight. This illegality is not for songs but for women and beardless young men.

2. Instruments used for the songs of drunkards are unlawful as they remind of unlawful things and incite unlawful action of wine-drinking and intoxicants. These are majamir, awtar and kubah but not daf (drum), flute and other musical instruments.

3. Obscene talk in sama is unlawful. If there are any obscene talks in poetry, useless talk and inferences against God, His Prophet, upon whom be peace, and the companions, may Allah be pleased with them, they are unlawful. If there are descriptions of a particular woman and not of women in general, and narrations of the beauties of a particular woman before the people, they are unlawful.

4. If any evil or immoral desire arises in mind or by hearing songs, it will be unlawful.

5. If habits are formed for hearing sama , it is unlawful. Excess of any thing is bad. If too much food is taken it is bad for health. If too much oil is besmeared on the face, it looks ugly, similarly if too many sama songs are heard, it forms into a harmful habit. After strenuous effort and hard labor sama songs and innocent enjoyments are not harmful.

As can be seen there is a wide range of opinions, and as in everything related to the faith, “actions are by intentions.”

Dream: entering to special place

Dream:

I usually have vivid dreams with lots of random things happening, they are neither pleasant nor unpleasant nor do they feel special. I was having such a dream when I and some other person suddenly find ourselves in front of a big heavy important door, we are able to open it and enter it. We find ourselves on a very highly situate terrace overlooking a wide beautiful landscape from up high as far as the eye can reach. Right near the entrance there is Maulana Sheikh Nazim at a younger age, with a still grey beard, looking full of strength and good spirit. He is talking to someone important, as I pass by his field of vision, I know that he recognizes me as if expecting me but as he is talking to someone very important I hurry past him with the other person like two children who don’t want to disturb the adults. We are just hurrying past maybe to go to play or something else…the dream ends.

Interpretation:

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is a descendant of Sayyidina Ali (r), about whom the Prophet (s) said, “I am the City of Knowledge and Sayyidina Ali (r) is its door.” The door symbolises Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s station as inheritor of that “doorship”. Seeing him at a younger age is seeing his spiritual self which is always young and powerful, regardless of his physical age. Going to play means you are still in the station of a lover who has not been burdened with taklif, responsibility, as indicated by his noticing you, which means as the Prophet (s) is doing for the Ummah, Mawlana Shaykh observes the `amal of his murids, and every day implores Allah to forgive them in sajda of Salat an-Najat. That means good tidings that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is going to be  your shafi`ee intercessor, for whatever wrongs you commit in this life. And keep your obligations, that gives Mawlana a means to support you.

Dream: Seeing Shaykh Hishaam Kabbani

Dream:

Assalam’alaikum,

I live in the U.S. and I recently took bayath with Shaykh Nazim online, after researching a great deal about the Naqshbandi way. Last week, I had a dream in which I saw Shaykh Hisham very clearly. I was in a car with some people I have never seen in my life, and while the car was stopped, I saw this small house and outside it looked like a bazaar. I saw Japanese writing on it (I study Japanese in college) and ran to it, examining the beautiful decorations. Then I look around at the door of the house and I see Sh. Hisham coming out gracefully to me with a warm smile and open arms. His face shining with nur. He looked so REAL! I felt extreme joy when I saw him. I walked to him with my head down and he put his hand on my head. Then we went into his house and he sat across from me. This part I can’t remember much. He was asking me to count or add two numbers together and he asked me what the answer was. It was either just a number or a year. I think one of the numbers was 914 or 1914. After that, I immediately woke up. What is the meaning?

Interpretation:

Seeing Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani in the dream means your baya` with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is accepted and confirmed by his deputy as Shaykh Hisham has been granted full power to represent Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in every aspect of spiritual guidance for Shaykh Nazim’s murids. And this means your door to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is Shaykh Hisham, so spend as much time with him, physically or spiritually  as possible and acquire his characteristics, if you cannot be with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim.

914 refers to Surah at-Tawba:14: “Fight against them! God will chastise them by your hands, and will bring disgrace upon them, and will succour you against them; and He will soothe the bosoms of those who believe”

and the meaning for you is: fight your ego and punish it and disgrace it, by keeping firm in the five prayers, in which case you will be supported by Allah’s servants to defeat it and Allah will make you into a true believer.

and 91:4 Surat ash-Shams, 4: “and the night as it veils it darkly!”

This means for you, get up in dark watches of the night and pray, in order to achieve a high station as a worshipper.

1914 refers to Surah Maryam:14 “and full of piety towards his parents; and never was he haughty or rebellious.”

and the meaning is apparent.

Dream: Go to China

Dream:

Assalam-o-alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuhu! Ya Shaykh,

A few years ago I had a dream in which I was told to go to China. Then the dream was repeated and this time I saw my self in China, a voice said: THE KING WANTS YOU THERE. And after a few nights I was told in a dream that I WILL HAVE TO GO TO CHINA (meaning that I will have no choice since I wasn’t doing it vulentarly). I am not sure if this means anything or is it just product of my mind? If it has a message for me then my question is how do I go to China, what would it mean to go to China?

Thank you,

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

The Prophet (s) said, ‘Utlub il ‘ilma wa law fis-Sin. “Seek knowledge even in China,” and the Prophet (s) said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” So this dream is telling you the Sultan of Saints is directing you to learn the knowledge of this great religion and the Prophet’s sunnah. And this is the path for you to improve your spiritual condition.
