Dealing with Injustice

Question:

Salaam,
I have been through the most evil experience in this life. I dream of revenge to the man who took the innocence. How does Islam deal with this? Do I wait? I want to take justice in my own hands, but I do not know. Please help me. What prayers can I recite for peace in my heart and soul, I am dying. He is living a good life, almost like he is being rewarded. He got a free education and got an MBA, he is now engaged to be married. I do not understand how this life works. The suffering suffer, i know I am not the only girl this happened to, but I am the type to seek revenge myself, but I know I have to control myself. Please guide me.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
If she was raped she shall be forgiven. According to Shari`ah  the rapist’s punishment is death. If she was not raped, then she should ask Allah for forgiveness and any revenge on her part would be unacceptable.

Should Seek Divorce?

Question:

Assalam o Alaikum Ya Shaikh, My Husband and I had been married in Feb last year. In short we were living with his parents, after marriage I discovered he was more controlling of nature than he posed initially. He had issues with giving me monthly expenditure, nanafqa, me visiting my parents, cooking, serve his mother’s desires. Our arguments had a lot of screaming and shouting turning into physical abuse in front of his parents. Last argument i came to my parents only to share my ordeal with my family. He and His parents came to our home, insulted my parents, cursed and shouted, even brought the Qur’an with them for me to take oaths. Have been 6 months and haven’t heard from him. No nafqa given either. I want to know if I should file for divorce and that If how to seek Mawlana Nazim’s approval (guidance). Walaikum Assalam.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

To be patient and hope for a better future is better. But if your husband:
a. refuses to provide for you,
b. harasses you and treats you unjustly,
c. abandons you and you become like a suspended woman not knowing if you are still his wife or not,
then it is permissible that you ask for divorce.

Questions regarding marital intimacy

Question:

Salaam Alaikum,
I would be grateful if you could guide my husband and I on the following:
1. Is it permissible for a wife to swallow her husband’s ejaculate if this pleases him? Does this nullify prayer?
2. Is it permissible for one to think of sexual things other than the husband in order to get aroused for intimacy with husband?
3. Is it permissible for a wife to explore her own self to find out how her husband can please her also?
4. What can a wife do to satisfy her husband in every way in this day and age when scantily clad women are around him at the workplace all day?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

1. This act is un-natural (zulm) unclean and impure and some scholars have termed it forbidden.
2. We are closest to the opinion that if you imagine the image of another man while having intercourse with your husband you are sinning. However a passing thought that you cannot prevent does not constitute a sin.
3. There is no harm for the wife to touch or play with the private parts of her husband.
4. If your husband focuses on your attractions he will not be distracted by other women.

Lawyer in Islamic Finance

Question:

AssalaamuAlaykum

I am a lawyer specializing in Islamic finance and my role involves writing the documents. Over time I have come to my personal opinion that there these arrangements are not Islamic at all. Rather, they merely disguise “riba” in a variety of ways. However, I am not a Shari’a scholar and these arrangements are approved by so-called scholars.
I do not benefit from these arrangements directly. I have read that three people are cursed, those that pay interest, those that receive interest and the scribe.

I did istikara before I took this job and in my dream I could see nothing but vibrant green. The job has been very good for me but I am extremely concerned that if these arrangements are wrong that I will be cursed to the hell fire as I am the scribe.

(The word limit would not let me explain in more detail).

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
It is our religious duty to follow opinions and verdicts of Muslim scholars credible in Islamic finances.

Schools of Thought

Question:

Salaams

I reverted to Islam almost 3 years ago and now I feel I need to follow a school of thought. I know that there is Hanafi,Safa and 2 others.

I went to a darga last night and found out about Tariquas. I looked up and found 4 other schools within the tariquas. The lady at the darga talked about the golden chain and the link to our Prophet (SAW). On the internet there are also a lot of questions about this.

I want to follow our Prophet (SAW), my question is I don’t know what or who to follow.

Can you help me, please. InshAllah

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
The madhhab (School of thought in Islamic law) of Imam Abu Hanifah (RA) is the most widespread among the Muslims. One of the reasons for that is that the Ottoman caliphs followed this madhab and ruled the Muslim lands for more than six centuries.
