Dream: Meeting a Sufi

Dream:

assalamu’alaikum.saya yanuar endra dari indonesia, saya mendapatkan bai’at melalui baya’ online.suatu hari saya setengah bermimpi disiang hari saya didatangi oleh seseorang yang mengenakan pakaian sufi, dia berkata :” semalam saya sudah datang kepadamu tapi kamu tidak mengetahuinya, sekarang aku berikan kekuatan spiritual kepadamu”. setelah kejadian tsb besoknya setengah tubuh saya dilihat oleh keluarga saya seolah memancarkan sinar dibagian kiri dan biasa dibagian kanan. mohon penjelasannya sebab saya khawatir apakah ini suatu anugrah atau istidroj dari Allah.wassalamu’alaikum wr wb.

Translation:
assalamu’alaikum.
My name is [private] from Indonesia, I have taken online baya before. One day afternoon I have got half a dream that someone on Sufi clothes came to me, he said, “Last night I came to you but you didn’t know it, now I am going to give you a spiritual power.” The next day, my family looked at me as if half of my body has been dressed by light, sometime on the left side, sometimes on the right side. Please advise. I am worry whether this is a grant or an istidroj from Allah.
wassalamu’alaikum wr wb.

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Your worry is the proper adab recommended and practiced by the Awliya on such occurrences, so continue with your awrad and disregard the “power.” If it is real, then you will see that light in the heart, from the heart, and to the heart insha-Allah.

Dream Interpretation: Istikhara of my mother

Dream:

My mother performed Istikhara on a Thursday night as there’s no peace in our home. Everyone’s always arguing, my father and her argue a lot, and there’s many arguments with all the children and herself. For two nights she saw nothing but on the third night she saw that she’s reading a book of the Arabic alphabet, the kind used by children before learning the Quran, with pictures of a fruit next to each letter, however all the fruits were jet black. Then she saw a red cola can. She’s read somewhere that seeing red and black in Istikhara is a negative. Could you please interpret, and also possibly recommend a dua to bring peace and unity within the family.
Thank You.

Interpretation:

The biggest blessing of parents is to live to see their children grow to recite the Qur’an with all their heart and this is what the letters mean, while the black fruits point to the cares and worries of raising them and the can is dunya. The coupling of the fruit and letter also points to the husband-wife relationship. It is more righteous and blessed for your mother not to argue with your father even when she is in the right, and for the children not to argue with their mother and father. Keep Salat in its time, fast as much as you can in Muharram (the biggest fasting month after Ramadan) and recite Ya Haleem every morning 100 times for peace and harmony.

Abusive parents

Question:

asalamualaikum syakh
I was physically abused by my father where he would beat me over trivial matters. I always respected my parents and I have always been an obedient daughter. Now a mother & still visit my parents out of respect. Recently my younger brother in their household been abusive, aggressive & shouted vulgar words at me, he had beat me & when my father arrived instead of protecting me he too attempted to beat me & in haste I called the police in fear for my life. My husband refuses to go there because of their behaviour. My own parents abuse me & I do not want to be disrespectful. Now my family will have nothing to do with me as I have called the police, my husband has forbidden me to take our children there but hasn’t forbidden me. Please advise what I shall do now?
Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Trust and obey your husband, as he, you and your children are your priorities in your worldly life, not your parents; but keep respect and love for the latter in your heart. Some of the Sahaba had to face death, torture, curses and defamation at the hands of their parents or relatives but they kept serene and respected kinship, so that in the end they won many of them over. Pray for the mending of this situation by reciting Ya Jabbar Ya Karim 100 times daily.

Dream: Following the Prophet

Dream:

The prophet had just got up from a sitting in which I was present. He walk out from the place of the talk and I decided to follow him, curious as to where he will go and what he would do, to learn from him and desiring to transmit what I saw. I was walking a distance behind him. He looked back and smiled at me approvingly, as if he knew what I was doing. Thereafter, I headed on my way.

Interpretation:

This is a very blessed dream reminiscent of the diligent narrators among the beloved Companions such as Abu Hurayra (Allah be well-pleased with him), that bodes faithful followership here and hereafter insha-Allah.

Was Imam Mahdi born and disappeared?

Question:

Assalam u alayekum !
I have been the repeated opinion of Hajj Gibril about Syedna Al Mahdi’s birth and disappearance and he always said that it is not so and etc etc. But now I have a more sound argument.
Check this sohbat of Maulana Shaikh Nazim (May Allah sanctify his secret), given on 16th february 2011:
The Coming of Sayyidina Imam Mahdi (a) & the Secret of Imam Husayn (r)
In the end of this sohbat Maulana says:
Inshaa-Allah you should be happy with Sayyidina al-Mahdi alaye hi Salam ………………..contd…..For every century, some people have been granted that authority to meet him, alayhi’ s-salaam“.
This last line depicts that his birth has taken place centuries ago as mentioned by Maulana Jami in his book and various other ulema of ahl-as-sunnah of past as well.
Now what do you say?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Alhamdulillah, our replies are devoid of “I say, you say” sectarian opinions and dunya disputations, they are only transmission from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (Allah sanctify his secret) and as ordered and authorized by himself. Anyone is free to take or leave what they like, and every word and counter-word will reappear in our records of deeds and meet its meed insha-Allah.

Everything makes sense to sincere hearts because it comes with its own clarity and its own explanation, even after awhile. However, “whoever looks for trouble will find it” since coarseness and arrogance put up dark veils and obstacles. Therefore, we are not responsible for the inconsistencies that people try to read into the discourses of our teachers, especially when they are couched in ta`ajruf. That is what Mawlana said, “take it or leave it”, and that is the last time we address that issue insha-Allah.

The quotation given is selective and its interpretation skewed. What Mawlana said is this, from 22’53”:
“Seventy years and I’m looking, I’m making my[self] to be ready for saluting when he [al-Mahdi] comes. Seventy years that I heard about Imam, qalbi, my heart, [was] just taken; and [he was] putting in it his love and his service. And for every century some people they have been granted that authority to meet him. `Alayhi as-Salam.”
Meaning that Mawlana’s heart was taken to meet his ruhaniyya, he is one of those who were granted that spiritual authority. Mawlana never said, “that his birth has taken place centuries ago” i.e. that he was fathered by Imam `Askari and went into hiding, since Mawlana himself explicitly referred to that belief as alien to the knowledge of Ahl al-Sunna as we already showed (https://eshaykh.com/hadith/imam-mahdi-will-be-the-son-of-who/). And Allah knows best.

Can saints get wilaya without Prophet (s)

Question:

Salaam alaykum..
1. I wanted to know if it is possible to become a wali and ‘skip’ out the Prophet alayhi salaato wa salaam

2. Is it possible for someone to become a wali WITHOUT the permission of the Holy Prophet salallahualayhiwasalam

3. And is it possible for someone to become a wali without the Holy Prophet alayhisalaato wasalaam knowing?
Because I was reading this: http://naqshbandi.org/suhba/shmk/pearls_n_coral/rajab.html and I became a bit confused on some parts such as: ”I do not care for the month of the Prophet (s)’, and ‘ .’ The Prophet (s) answered, ‘O Abu Bakr (s), I am even more surprised than you. I am waiting for Gabriel (s) to come and inform me of what has happened.” and ‘The Prophet (s) asked her, ‘What kind of seclusion did he do?”
Jazakallah Khayr

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
As mentioned in another recent reply, without the second half of shahada one’s religion is incomplete therefore no, it is not possible to “become a wali and ‘skip’ out the Prophet alayhi salaato wa salaam.” How on earth can he be ‘skipped’ when all existence would not exist were it not for his sake? Likewise, no for the second and third questions, since their scenario is also contradicted by too much evidence, notably the following two hadiths:

“Allah Most High is the giver and I am the distributor;”

and

“The Prophet was among us [speaking]. For each prayer, he came down [from the minbar], prayed, and returned to his place. He told us about all that would take place from that very moment until the Rising of the Hour. There is no leader of one hundred people or more, whether misguided or guided, except the Messenger of Allah named him for us. Whoever remembers, remembers, and whoever forgot, forgot.”

Whatever else one might suppose, it may be because the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) always spoke of himself in humble terms, unless ordered to disclose something of his own station, such as in the hadith “I am the master of all human beings beginning with Adam and whoever comes after him” — yet even then he added: “and I do not say this to boast” (wa-la fakhr).

Whatever the case, we should also say: Allah knows best and His Prophet knows best.

Was Grandshaykh Khalid al-Baghdadi Shia?

Question:

Assalam u alayekum !
Shaykh Khalid Al Baghdadi (May Allah santify his secret ) memorized the books of Twelve Imams and he stayed in the school of isna ahriyaa.
Source: http://naqshbandi.org/chain/31.htm
And I read or heard in one of sohbats earlier this year that Shaykh Khalid Al Baghdadi QaddasAllahu sirrahu’l aziz ordered his murids to go to Makkah and do ba’yat of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye he salam. Do these facts point out that Syedna Khalid Al Baghdadi was a follower of isna ashri school of thought and particularly his views about the appearance of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye hi salam were those of isna ashri’s (because he ordered his murids to go there). It is to be noted that Maulana Jami wrote about the birth and disappearance of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye hi salam in one of his books!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Ithna `Ashariyya books are not “the books of the Twelve Imams” but rather books compiled much later and containing many things they themselves never said.

It is possible Hadrat Mawlana Khalid (Allah sanctify his secret) may have memorized such books in order to refute them, as he was fluent in Persian as well as Arabic and he was extremely active in teaching the path of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama`a through his travels, books, teaching, sermons, and letters. Biographers and students of his said he became hugely famous as a brilliant debater against Ithna `Asharis in Tehran, Shiraz, Rayy, Asfahan, and elsewhere, and he always defeated them. Many times they ambushed him physically and tried to kill him. One of his poems in which he lambasted them is reproduced in full in al-Khani’s al-Hada’iq al-Wardiyya (transmitted from his grandfather directly from Mawlana Khalid) which is the main source Mawlana Shaykh Hisham (Allah sanctify his soul) used for the passage you quoted.

That same source also mentions that Mawlana Khalid’s teacher Hadrat Mawlana `Abd Allah al-Dihlawi (Allah sanctify his secret) “told him to meet the author of the Tuhfa Ithna `Ashariyya which is a unique sourcebook for the refutation of the Rawafid, the aged Shaykh Mawla `Abd al-`Aziz al-Hanafi al-Naqshbandi the son of Shaykh Waliyyullah.” He did meet Shah `Abd al-`Aziz and it is well-known he took ijaza from him. (In the early nineties Turkey’s Wakf Ihlas reproduced and distributed the Tuhfa Ithna `Ashariyya far and wide but it is reading for specialists of heresiology, not the common public.)

As for the passage that says “he stayed in the school of Ahsa’iyya Isfahaniyyah,” it was a Sunni school in Baghdad and not as suggested; many of Mawlana Khalid’s murids came from al-Ahsa’ and a few from Najd as well. In fact he transcends our Silsila and was one of the staunchest and most impressive Ahl al-Haqq in Islamic history, to the point they called him the Renewer (Mujaddid) of the 13th century.

And Allah knows best.

Prayer Request: Dua for happiness

Request:

Assalamualaiykum respected Sheikh,
Mowlana I am suffering from stress and sadness in my life. I feel as if everything is going wrong. My family is also upset too due to my sister’s choice of marriage. I also feel lost for grounds as I feel I’m backing away from Islam. Please pray that my family is filled with happiness and barkath.
jazakallah hair
wassalam

Response:

wa `alaykum salam,

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham will pray for you and your family.

The Holy Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said that recitation of the following du`a will change sadness into happiness:

Allahumma inni `abduka
wabnu `abdika wabnu amatik
nasiyati bi-yadik
madin fiyya hukmuk
`adlun fiyya qada’uk
as’aluka bi-kulli ismin huwa lak
sammayta bihi nafsak
aw `allamtahu ahadan min khalqak
aw anzaltahu fi kitabik
awista’tharta bihi fi `ilmi al-ghaybi `indak
an taj`ala al-Qur’ana al-karima rabi`a qalbi
wa-nura sadri
wa-jala’a huzni
