How to treat non-Muslims?

Question:

Is it a sin to bully a non-Muslim? I totally know that the answer is an absolute no but this muslim guy who is more like a lousy hypocrite and he bullies athiest, hindus, jews and whatnot; I keep telling him that what he is doing is not right and in my heart I know that you should respect all religions because the last prophet peace be upon him was bullied by non muslims but was still nice to them anyway. I want a professional to confirm my statements.

Answer:

Audhubillahiminashaytanirajeem
BismillahirRahmanirRahim

In the Quran, Surah Isra, 17:70, Allah (swt) said,And indeed we honored the children of Adam…If Allah honored all human beings and we disrespect them we are falling into error and oppression.

Also, Surat al Fatihah says, “Praise be to Allah Lord of All the Worlds.” This is inclusive of all human beings. If you harm or bully, you are coming against their Lord and Protector.

In Surat al-Anbiya, 21: 107,  “And We did not send you (O Muhammad) except as a Mercy to All of the Worlds.” If we follow the footsteps of the Prophet (saws), then we have to exemplify Mercy to All human beings, we should not contradict mercy to all creatures by speech or behavior.

Mawlid Un Nabawi

Question:

Assalaamualaikum

To Whom It May Concern

I was wondering as to what basis do the Wahabi and there like minded groups say that the Mawlid was initiated during the Shi’a Fatimid Dynasty? Is there proof of that? If not, when was Mawlid started?

Jazakallah

Answer:

A`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem

wa `alaykum salam,

Please refer to Shaykh Gibril’s answer in the Post “About Reciting Mawlid” as well as the Fatwa of Dr. `Isa al-Mani` al-Humayri, Department of Awqaaf, Dubai in the following link

http://sunnah.org/ibadaat/mawlid_dubai.htm

This fatwa refers to the same claim that you refer to in the following:

“The ones prejudiced against celebrating the Prophet’s birthday have paved the way for their falsehood by deceiving the less-learned among the Muslims. The prejudiced ones claim that Ibn Kathir writes in his Al Bidaya wal Nihaya (11-172) that the Fatimide-Obaidite state, which descends from the Jew, Obaidillah Bin Maimoon Al Kaddah, ruler of Egypt from 357-567 A.H., innovated the celebration of a number of days, among them, the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday. This treacherous lie is a grave insult to the scholarship of Ibn Kathir and the scholarship of all Islam. For in truth, Ibn Kathir writes about the Prophet’s birthday in Al bidaya wal nihaya [13-136] “The victorious king Abu Sa’id Kawkaburi, was one of the generous, distinguished masters, and the glorious kings; he left good impressions and used to observe the honorable Mawlid by having a great celebration. Moreover, he was chivalrous, brave, wise, a scholar, and just.” Ibn Kathir continues, “And he used to spend three hundred thousand Dinars on the Mawlid.” In support, Imam Al Dhahabi writes of Abu Sa’id Kawkaburi, in Siyar A’laam al nubala’ [22-336] “He was humble, righteous, and loved religious learned men and scholars of Prophetic saying.”

And Allah and His Prophet know best.

Ahlul Bayt

Question:

Assalamu alaikum ya sayyidi,

My question is regarding the Ahlul Bayt. I have heard that the Ahlul Bayt do not enter hell fire and that they are punished in this world for whatever sins they commit. Is this a valid saying? Does this apply to sayyids who live now, the descendants of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

Jazakallah khair

Answer:

As-salamu Alaikum,

The question you are asking has to do with events after Judgment Day which is part of ghaib or the unseen that no one knows except Allah Almighty. Only He can know who is going to jannat and who is going to hellfire. Sometimes Allah Almighty opens to some of His Prophets and sincere servants a view on ghaib and they can advise us. However, these issues of who will go to hellfire should not distract us from our duties, to serve Allah sincerely.

We respect all Ahlul-Bayt and Sayyids because of their Great-Grandfather (saws) but we cannot comment about their final resting place. That is for Allah (swt) to decide. Unfortunately some people abuse this respect and claim they are Sayyids, do evil deeds and claim that because they are Sayyids it is OK to do evil. Astaghfirullah! That is unfortunate, but it should not distract us from our worship and servanthood and good adab and respect.

And Allah and His Prophet know best.

Dream: Istikhara dream about saving people

Dream:

Salaam! I prayed 2 rakaat and made istikhara regarding a man I really like. I dreamt that I had Romany neighbors who always messed up and stole my things, so I threatened to call the cops on them. The men got REALLY scared and I very quickly apologized and told them I was just trying to scare them. But then the police really started taking the Roma into custody and destroying their things, and my mother and I set out to save them. I used my knowledge and skill as a real-life attorney to help get the Romany people released from custody, etc. Does this dream have any significance? I plan to keep making istikhara anyway since this seems rather … stranger.

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

Marriage to him is not recommended based on this dream, but may work out after you go through a lot of difficulties, and Allah knows best.
