Beard

Question:

Is beard wajib, farz or sunnah?
If a person keeps beard length less than one fist what is the religious ruling according to Hanafi school of thought?
Is very small beard serves the Islamic demand? Some ullamas says that it is not allowed to keep beard less than one fist and he is fasiq. Please clearify the issue.

Answer:

salam `alaykum,

Beard in Hanafi school of thought is a Sunnah Mu’akkadah. The Hanafi position is that the beard must be at least fist-length. To shave the beard or to cut it to less than a fist is prohibited.

Zakat

Question:

Assalaam aleykum wr wb ya Sayyidi MSN (q) and MSH, and holy family and to beloved ‘e shaykh staff ‘.
Plz forgive me for any short-coming of adab.
I would like to know that when giving zakat is it allowable for me to give it to a family member who is divorced and raising her children alone?

Jzk

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Zakat can be spent on persons for the following purposes:

(i) It may be given to a poor person, who does not possess actual or potential means to meet his own expenses, as well as that of his family for a period of one year. However, a person who has an art or possesses property or capital to meet his expenses, is not classified as poor.

(ii) It may be paid to a miskin (a destitute person) who leads a harder life than a Faqir (a poor person).

It was noon time Earth was burning and my feet were getting burned on that path because I was without slippers and I was running behind Prophet in that hot weather. After running behind Prophet I got tried and stop and also Prophet stopped and he prayed for me and feet were not burning, and dream got ended. What does this dream mean that I am good follower of Prophet or my prayers gets accepted by Allah. I don’t understand meaning of dream, can you explain to me that?

Interpretation:

Fa inna ma`al `usri yusran”  As much as you are running after Prophet (s) he is happy with you and when you get tired, he is interceding for you to help you and make your burden lighter.  Make more salawat, to be thankful.  And Allah ta`ala knows better and best.

Dream: On the roof of Kabah

Dream:

Salaam.
Recently I had a dream and it was like I was in MAKKAH and I saw the Holy Kabah in front of me. I climbed the Kabaah and stood on its roof, as soon as I got on the Roof of the Kabah I heard many voices and seen people below me saying ‘Please pray for me, do dua for me’. At that instant the dream ended. It was a very weird dream and I am still confused about it – could you please tell me the meaning to this.

Jazak’Allah

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam!

Houses must be “entered through their doors”.  Beware the praising of people and escape to your Lord.  Make tawba and Allah ta’ala knows best.

Dream: Blessed grave of Rasulallah

Dream:

Assalamu Aleikum.
Last night I had a dream. I was in a dark room with some other people and our beloved Prophet’s blessed grave was there. The other people went away after some time and I remained alone in the room with the blessed grave of Rasulallah. I began crying and I began moving closer to the blessed grave of Rasulallah. Then I realised that I was laying on the top of the blessed grave of Rasulallah with my stomach down towards the blessed grave of Rasulallah. I felt that I had to get down in respect and did so. Then I went out of the room and some of my family members where there, and one of them said: ”It smells like the fragrance of Rasulallah”…..Please can you tell me the Meaning of this dream.

Thank you very much.

Interpretation:

No need for an explanation. It explains itself.

wa `alaykum salam.

Sayyidina Ali’s Battle

Question:

Salamu alaikum,
Which war (name of the war) was it when Sayyiduna Ali (Radiallahu tala anhu) let the enemy go because the enemy spat on the holy face Sayyiduna Ali (Radiallahu tala anhu) ?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

If I remember correctly, neither Mevlana Rumi nor Mevlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani (on the authority of Sultan ul-awliya Shaykh `Abdullah ad-Daghistani) – may Allah sanctify their secrets! – mention the name of the battle in relating this renowned story.

Some have sought to situate this story at the Battle of Khandaq, and this is problematic, since during that event the champion of the unbelievers is known to have been slain, in contrast to the accounts of the aforementioned authorities in which the champion accepts Islam.

For what it’s worth, when this story is essentially reenacted in Star Wars by the Jedi throwing down his sword, he faces two “champions of unbelief;” the Jedi’s conquest of his anger brings death to one of them and conversion to the other.

People of Book

Question:

Assalamualikum wa rahmatullah,

1.How it is legal that “eshaykh” teachers calling “jews” and “chirstians” as “people of book” where they are not following “torat” or “injeel”…only following their corrupted ideologies or understandings…

2.What is hanafi view in this purpose !

Allah Hafez,
Mohammed Kamrul Hassan

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

A person who claims to be belonging to the Jewish or Christian faith will be considered from the People of the Book if they believe in God, a revealed book, and an actual messenger. As such, any Christian who believes in God, the Gospel, and Jesus (a.s.) will be considered from the Ahl al-Kitab, regardless of their practice. (Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Mukhtar)

Missing Zikr and Prayer

Question:

Salaam

I was given a small zikr of Hasbunallah Rabunallah 100 times daily and it’s been awhile now I have abandoned it. I really want to become closer to Islam in these days but I find myself diverting away from simple obligations. I don’t pray or neither do I do any zikr. I have personally realised that now I don’t feel fresh likewise when I used to do zikr I did. Please guide me and pray for me. What should I do??!! Jazakallah Khair.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Allah is all-Merciful all-Forgiving. If a person is sincerly seeking His forgiveness, He will surely forgive. This is what you need to do to defend yourself against Shaytan and his followers in this time:

1- Make ablution, pray two raka`ats, make 100 Istighfar and intend that from now on you will try obey Allah’s command (doing all your prayers and obligations).

2- To Keep Shaytan away from you, say everyday 100 times “audhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem, Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem“. It will keep him away from you for that day.

3- Keep the company of good pious people and stay away from bad and corrupt people. Prophet (s) said: “tell me who you keep company with, and I tell you who you are”. Run away from evil and dirty people like you would run away from a pack of wolves trying to hunt you.

Success is from Allah.
