Name of Allah written

Question:

Assalamu’Alaykum Peace be upon you and your family

I am writting to you to have your opinion about a man who has the name of Allah written between his Ankle and his feet. This man is very kind and has helped a lot of people, people everywhere love him a lot. I find it very strange nobody can’t deny it because it’s clearly visible, very well written in Arabic, anybody who wants proof, they can see it. Is it possible that Allah will write his name on the feet of a human being ? I would like you have an answer thank you

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

If it is a tattoo, then it is haram. If it is a birth defect, then he is not liable, but he should cover it, because it is not befitting for Allah’s Greatness.

Ruling about interest

Question:

Assalam u alayekum Syyedi Sheikh Hisham!
Previously I read a post here in which it was said that fixed deposit is interest. But some friends have raised a point that we know that the value currency keeps going low these days i.e. 1000 of today will be worth 500 of some other day in the future. So in order to compensate for that value loss, we take fixed deposit.
Isn’t this reasoning enough for fixed deposit and saving certificates? If not please explain why?
Shukran ya Syyedi. May Allah bless you and Maulana Sheikh Nazim with more Tajalliyat and anwaar.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

This is an answer to those who want to know what Islam says about the profit being given on fixed deposit.

If it is a non-Islamic bank, then it is haram, as the bank’s earning will be based on interest.

Questions about zakat

Question:

Assalam u alayekum Syedi Sheikh Hisham and dear scholars!
I have some questions regarding zakat.
1-Is the nisaab of zakaat same in the whole world or it will vary as the price of gold varies. Last year some muftis from Pakistan declared that nisab of zakaat was 38000 pkr but I read on this some months ago the nisab was given in dollars whose equavilent was much more than 38000 pkr.
2- If some person had some amount less than nisab for less than a period year say 10 months, but then he became the owner of additional money such that his amount exceeds nisab now will he have to pay the zakaat after completion of 1 year with respect to initial amount or this total amount?
Shukran ya Syyedi

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

1. Zakat is obligatory when a certain amount of money, called the nisab is reached or exceeded. Zakat is not obligatory if the amount owned is less than this nisab. The nisab (or minimum amount) of gold and golden currency is 20 mithqal, this is approximately 85 grams of pure gold. One mithqal is approximately 4.25 grams. The nisab of silver and silver currency is 200 dirhams, which is approximately 595 grams of pure silver. The nisab of other kinds of money and currency is to be scaled to that of gold, 85 grams of pure gold. This means that the nisab of money is the price of 85 grams of 999-type (pure) gold, on the day in which Zakat is paid. (Current Gold Prices)

2. If the owner had enough money to satisfy the nisab at the beginning of the year, then the money increased (in profits, salaries, inheritance, grants…etc.), the owner needs to add the increase to the nisab amount owned at the beginning of the year; then pay Zakat, 2.5%, of the total at the end of the lunar year. (There are small differences in the fiqh schools here.)

Dream: Owls?

Dream:

Assalaamu-alaykum,

May Allah(SWT)send peace and blessings upon the Prophet(SAW)and his family and companions and may Allah (SWT) send mercy and blessings on all the mashaykh, present and past, and the people involved in eshaykh.com.

I dreamt my mum took me to a farm to choose a pet. We arrived and next to the farm was a small forest. I went into the forest. There was light everywhere and I saw animals running around, a cream-coloured dog, a beautiful grey goat and birds. Soon my mum called me back and I asked if I could have the lovely, cream-coloured dog and she said no because those animals were wild. She told me I had to choose an animal from the farm because the ones in the forest were wild. I went in but I didn’t like any of the animals. Next, I remember walking home with two beautiful, majestic-looking brown-and-white owls and the grey goat from the forest.

Interpretation:

audhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem,

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem,

wa `alaykum salam,

Insha-Allah, the two owls represent the two angels on your shoulders recording your deeds and the goat shows the blessings of respecting your mother. W’Allahu a`lam.

Prayer Request: To my Shaykh Hisham – Weakest one and support needed

Request:

Assalamualaikum my Shaykh Hisham,
I am trying very hard, trying my best to follow the tariqat though at times I fall weak but I will never surrender to the shaitan or to my ego. My Shaykh knows what is in my heart and how much I am trying with the Dzkir and night prayers.  I have no will nor do I have power but I’m very much in need of your awliya support. Please doa for me to make it right with the will of Allah, as I am the weakest one. I’m trying to do what is right though I’ve been broken and wronged, though I forgive many times and I’m trying my best, I read and follow as much as I can carry. Please pray for me and be there with me always. Many love to you and your family and to our Sultan Awliya..

Response:

`Alaykum as-Salam,
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham will pray for you insha-Allah. Feeling broken and helpless before Allah Most High is a good state, since He said in a hadith qudsi, “I am found with those who are broken-hearted”. Recite Ya Hafizu Ya Jabbar daily 100 times.

`Alaykum as-Salam,
Recite Ya Wadud 100 times daily and yes, Salawat increases familiarity and
stills fears.

Dream: Girl I love attempts suicide

Dream:

assalamu alikum ya Sheikh

I dreamt a few days back the girl that I love attempted to commit suicide at our work place by swallowing some kind of seeds because she bumped into a small boy and I was lifting her with a friend of mine to rush her to a hospital.

Ya Sheikh what does this dream mean?
Although she had said no to me I still feel very sad every time I see her at the work place, knowing I will not be able to marry her. Also is there any recital I can do to come out of this because every time I see her it takes me a long time to get back to my normal work. I get stuck. It is affecting me a lot.

assalamu alykum

Interpretation:

`Alaykum as-Salam,
Suicide in a dream signifies someone who believes or acts in a way that contravenes Islam. For your situation, try to surrender to the Divine decree and have patience, Allah shall send you all good things.
Say and reflect on the dhikr:
Allahumma la mani`a lima a`tayta wa-la mu`tiya li-ma mana`t; wa-la radda li-ma qadayt, wa-la yanfa`u dhal-jaddi minka al-jadd”
which means:
“O Allah, there is no preventer for what You give, and no giver for what You prevent; no one can repel Your decree, and all the power of those who possess power avails them nothing against You.”

You may say this dhikr also inside Salat, at the time you rise up from ruku`, after Rabbana laka al-hamd.

Conditions for Intention in Ibadah

Question:

Assalamualaikum Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and all eshaykh staff, May ALLAH swt bless all of you for your guidance.

What are the conditions for a valid intention in any act of ibadah? (mainly wudu’, prayers and ghusl) Is it sufficient to just think in my mind without voicing out loud my intention? Must I say the words in my mind? Must the intention be in Arabic?

Which is correct? “I intend to pray” or “I intend to pray for ALLAH swt”? I often feel like I have not made proper intention, then I stop and repeat the act again. Please help me with keeping focus in ibadah. Please clarify this for me and thank you for help.

Answer:
Wa`alaikumussalam Wr Wb

Any act of worship requires (Niyyah) intention “for Allah” (lillaahi ta`ala). Niyyah must be made in the heart at the moment you begin the act. You may say it with your tongue in any language to reinforce your conscience. Don’t delay once you’ve made your intention and ignore all doubts.
