Assalamu’alaikum dear respected and beloved shuyukh,

I have always had a bad memory, forgetting things very easily. People sometimes point this out and it upsets me.

These are some of the problems:- I forget where I have put things. Sometimes when I am driving, I forget which way I came or went. When out shopping, I forget what I needed to get. In the past, I gave up learning certain surahs of the Holy Qur’an because I kept forgetting and could not memorize.

Apart, from my memory I have no other problems. I am still quite young, I was wondering if I can recite something after prayer or in general.

`Alaykum as-Salam,

Your reward for trying is greater than for those who can memorize easily. Ignore what people tell you and be with Allah Who knows your state. Do not give up memorizing. Keep jogging your memory and use whatever means help.

Recite Astaghfirullah x100 daily and 100x Ya Hafeez daily, also:
– Surah Quraysh and Surat al-Kawthar in your Salat or after your Salat.
– or the verses

فَاللّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ 12:64

and

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ 15:9

Before sleep, read Surah Tabarak.
