Dream:
Assalam-alaikum.
I had a dream in which I was at the grave of the Holy Prophet(saw) and present were Shaykh Hisham and other mashaikh (though I didn’t recognise anyone else). We were around the holy grave and I was leading the group in clearing the dust, presenting perfume, sandalwood etc to the Prophet’s grave. We could see out through the Rawda-as-sharif gates at people walking past saying Salam as they do.
I have pledged allegiance to my master in the Chisti, Qadri, Naqshbandi and Suhrawardi Orders.
Insha-Allah intended for the attention of Shaykh Hisham.
Interpretation:
wa `alaykum salam!
audhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem,
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem,
wa as-salat wa as-salam `ala Rasulullah wa `ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam!
وسُفُ أَيُّہَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ أَفۡتِنَا فِى سَبۡعِ بَقَرَٲتٍ۬ سِمَانٍ۬ يَأۡڪُلُهُنَّ سَبۡعٌ عِجَافٌ۬ وَسَبۡعِ سُنۢبُلَـٰتٍ خُضۡرٍ۬ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَـٰتٍ۬ لَّعَلِّىٓ أَرۡجِعُ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ
{“O Joseph!” (he said) “O man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that I may return to the people, and that they may understand.”} Surat Yusuf 12:46
I am asking from my Shaykh, Allah ta`ala blesses him, and grants us to drink from his heavenly outpourings – even one drop – to understand something useful from what you sent me.
Mawlana always says (Allah ta`ala raises him higher) that safety is through servanthood, and that seekers of realities must cling to it at all times. Therefore, even a very good dream such as this should be seen as a sign that we must work harder to improve.
Qur’an says, “Wa`lamu anna fikum Rasulullah!” – “know that within you is the Messenger of Allah.(salla’Llahu alayhi was-sallam).” The holy Rawda may therefore be understood as your heart, wherein resides the Representative of the Lord Almighty (Peace be upon him). The other people in the dream are YOU – in other words, your various organs, characteristics and abilities or faculties. You – that is, your real being – has been entrusted with the task of leading them in the path of servanthood, as a deputy to the Lord. You are engaging your faculties in perfuming and ornamenting your heart to receive what He Almighty wants to bestow on you from His Heavenly grants and favors. Shaykh Hisham, Allah gives him more honor, is helping you through the specialties he has been given for assisting the ummah, along with the other awliya you saw. When The Lord sees you busy with this holy ‘work’, salams comes to you from every side!
Allah ta`ala knows best, but it would be beneficial for you, I think, to increase your daily recitation of darood and salawat – by tongue and by heart and by eye (i.e., reading from books such as Dala’il al-Khayrat). Beneficial for you and better for me also, insha-Allah.
Please forgive me if I said anything wrong. Beyond my weak understanding, real knowers may bring much deeper meanings and much more lights. “Wa min Allah at-tawfiq!“
